What kind of aromatherapist are you?
I awoke early this morning, and in an attempt to not disturb the rest of the house, I went cruising into several Facebook groups to see what’s been happening.
There seems to be a lot of cherry picked, fear mongering information sharing happening. It’s taken on a life of its own.
As a result, people are throwing out perfectly good bottles of amazing essential oils all because one person, or one collective group has said that oil is not to be used ever.
Like, wow, talk about wasting resources.
A source I trust, one who is respected by the larger aromatic community and well versed in research methods shared this quote from one of her mentors. She wrote ‘if you are afraid of your oils, what kind of aromatherapist are you?’
And it really struck a cord with me.
I’d also add what kind of aromatherapist are you if you incite fear and hatred to the masses making them afraid of their oils?
Not many things in aromatherapy are black and white, it is all shades of grey. The all or nothing approach does not benefit or serve justice to anyone. Any decent, professional qualified practitioner of aromatherapy will teach you how to respect and use all the tools in your essential oil toolkit. They will give a balanced view, argue both sides of the spectrum, and help you understand the shades of grey in which we work.
Essential oil usage is on the rise, which is great, but the misinformation is not. And the fear mongering isn’t helping the cause for the better.
